ARTIST'S STATEMENT - RITA PERROTT  View Pictures

My name is Rita and I've been painting landscapes and still life most of my life. I graduated from The Crawford College of Art, Cork in 1973. Fro thriteen years I taught art in the Vocational School in Mallow, Co Cork now know as Davis College. I am presently teaching in Coachford College.

Painting landscapes for me has simply been an acknowledgement of my surroundings. Everywhere I look there is a painting just waiting to happen. I am inspired by the sea, the colours of nature, a flower, old ruins, broken down fences, rusty gates, streams and the cascading waterfall of Mullinhassig which is very close to where I live.

I work in a variety of mediums, oil, arcylic, pastael, watercolour, charcoal and try my hand with some batik. A selection of my paintings will be on exhibition at Sheen Falls Lodge for April and May. Some of my paintings can also be seen at Griffins Garden Centre, Dripsey, Co Cork.
