Kenmare
A pretty little town, Kenmare is known as ‘The Jewel on the Ring of Kerry’ and is just a five-minute drive from Sheen Falls Lodge.
Compact and picture-perfect, the heritage town was founded in 1670 on the Kenmare River estuary at the foot of the Cork and Kerry mountains. The town’s distinctive triangular layout comprises rows of handsome buildings dating from the 19th century, when it was part of the huge Lansdowne estate.
For a town this size, Kenmare has an impressive collection of top class restaurants, cafés and pubs alongside lovely independent boutiques, craft shops, galleries, festivals and a heritage centre. There’s a weekly market, gorgeous chocolatier and a lively buzz year round.
