Kenmare
Kenmare is known as ‘The Jewel on the Ring of Kerry’ and is just a five-minute drive from Sheen Falls Lodge.
Compact and picturesque, the heritage town was founded in 1670 on the Kenmare River estuary at the foot of the Cork and Kerry mountains. The town’s distinctive triangular layout comprises rows of buildings dating from the 19th century when it was part of the huge Lansdowne estate. Kenmare has an impressive collection of top-class restaurants, cafés and bars alongside lovely independent boutiques, craft shops, galleries, festivals and a heritage centre. There’s also a weekly market, a traditional chocolatier, and a wonderful atmosphere year-round.
